Spanish Association Against the Cancer. District office of Miño.
The Spanish Association Against the Cancer (AECC) is a private social entity without any profit and declared of public usefulness whose main purpose is to fight against Cancer.
The task of the Spanish Association Against the Cancer is developed under a philosophy of mutual collaboration and support with all sectors and entities, which pursue a similar purpose to the one of the Association. And when everything is always under the principles of independence, fairness, clearness and objectivity.
The Spanish Association Against the Cancer has its head office in Madrid but it develops its activity throughout Spain thanks to its 52 provincial district offices, with representation in more than 2,000 locations throughout the whole country.
The strategic key objectives of this association are:
 To inform and make aware the population about the factors which provide the prevention and the premature detection of the cancer for the purpose of decreasing the rates of incidence and/or mortality because of cancer in our country.
To improve the quality of life to the sick people of cancer and their families by mitigating the problems derived from the cancer disease.
To promote the research in the fight against cancer.
To promote the training between the professional and voluntary groups which work in the fight against cancer.
In 2003 it was 50 years since the constitution of this association.
ACTIVITIES WE DEVELOP
The activities of the District Office of Miño are:
Lectures about prevention, which are directly organized by the local committee in its influence area.
Individual psychological supervision in patients and their relatives: supervisions that help sick people and/ or relatives to confront the emotional disorders and the problems that are associated to the course of the disease.
Phe programme called “Living like shortly before” for women who have been diagnosed breast cancer.
Social intervention:
 Information about the public and private resources
Resources paperwork.
Economical aids, and so on
Programme of laryngectomy : recovery of the speech in sick people who have had an operation. They are cared for with specialized monitors by specialists.
Programme to get out the habit of smoking.
Volunteers’ service.
All these services are totally free.
